Item Description
This is the complete set of buttons sent to DC Comics club members, with the exception of the 7/8" rare size used in 1941 (see next lot). First is 1940 with light scratches at the top in reflected light. VF. Second is 1947 with five accent lines around chain end and at lower right a tiny copyright line with 1947 date. Faint age on extreme edge 6-8 o'clock. VF. Third in 1948 has reverse collet in cream instead of bare metal and the front image reverts to pre-1947. Numerous but very light center scratches in reflected light. Glossy. Fine. Fourth is 1957 with three accent lines by chain end and redesigned image plus a line of copyright text for Natl Comics Pub. Inc. NM. Fifth is 1961 with same image as 1957 but copyright text line moves to extreme bottom edge and includes 1961 date. This example has a red metal back with stamped in union bug. Seldom offered as a set.
