Item Description
10x14.5" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for Sargento Rock Vol. 1 #11, which reprints various Sgt. Rock stories from "Our Army At War". Published in Spain c. 1980 Mundi. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing a original composition that was based on panel from the US issue story "A Man Called ...Rock!" by Joe Kubert. Action scene of Sgt. Rock hanging from a rope on a cliff and downing an ME109 with his Thompson machine gun. Lt. aging/handling wear. Art remains bright and clean. Displays VF. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish comic books, featuring DC's most popular military character and is unsigned by artist. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
