Item Description
8.25x12" sheet of vellum has mixed media preliminary original art for reimagining of Jack Cole's cover to Silver Streak Comics #7 (Lev Gleason, 1941) by noted pulp magazine artist Rafael de Soto (1904-1987). Art in its final form was published as the cover to Gold & Silver: Overstreet's Comic Book Quarterly #3 in 1981. This preliminary art features the same elements, but differs somewhat from the published art, w/fully nude woman in the hands of The Claw as the Golden Age Daredevil rushes to her aid (final version had scantily-clad woman in the arms of Daredevil as The Claw loomed overhead). De Soto has signed at lower right and sheet is attached to 12x16" mat and is ready for framing. Exc. de Soto's final cover art sold at auction for $6,600 in 2018. Harry Matetsky Collection.
