Item Description
20-1/8x26-1/8" artboard features pen and ink original art by The Gumps creator Sidney Smith for 1933 Sunday page w/11 panels. Art shows Chester Gump and friend overhearing bandits discussing treasure map that is cut into fourths. When the bandits fall asleep, the boys use a fishing pole to snatch a hat containing part of the map. Chicago Tribune copyright strip in last panel. Bottom has Old Doc Yak three panel cartoon w/the title character getting more bang for his buck! Partial copyright strip in last panel. Heavy horizontal fold at center w/large splits at sides, artboard has moderate aging and scattered dust soiling w/corner tip off bottom left. Ninth and tenth panel of Gumps page and last panel of Old Doc Yak strip have aged paste-overs w/corrected original art. Fine overall.
