Item Description
About 14x20" on uncoated index stock. This is a third printing poster is for Sept. 16-17, 1966 concerts at Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA featuring The Grateful Dead and Oxford Circle. Art by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley features the now iconic Grateful Dead image of a skeleton w/roses on its head in a rose garden as originally drawn by late 19th and early 20th century artist Edward Joseph Sullivan. This third printing was done shortly after the original printings. All vintage printings of this poster are very popular. Faint age in margins and minor handling Exc. With OP-1 examples rising into the mid to upper five figure range this striking RP-3 makes for an attractive alternative. Undoubtedly the most famous poster from the Family Dog series, as well as the most recognized image ever used by The Grateful Dead.
