Item Description
1-5/8x3". The 1916 Sporting News M101-4 baseball series consists of 200 cards. The set was offered as a marketing promotion by C.C. Spink and Son, publishers of The Sporting News.

Richard Carleton "Dick" Hoblitzell played first base in the major leagues from 1908 to 1918. He played for the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox. Nicknamed "Doc" by his teammates, Hoblitzell's baseball career was cut short with his World War I induction into the U.S. Army as a dentist in 1918. Hoblitzell was a two time World Series Champion in 1915 and 1916.
