Item Description
The Modern Health Crusaders, created by Charles DeForest of the National Tuberculosis Association, set out for children 11 "Chores" to promote general health and prevent tuberculosis. The program began in 1915 and by 1917 was nationally promoted in schools. These 20 buttons and brass badges are mostly 7/8"-1". Although we don't know why, the first button carries the group name plus "American Red Cross" below a snowy pine tree. A little age tone on Row 3 #3, otherwise all Exc. to NM. The most extensive collection we've ever seen.
