Item Description
8.5x11" offset print on uncoated thin cardstock produced before the show. PNW flyer promoting concerts in Seattle, WA at The Underground on Dec. 28 & 29, 1988 featuring SubPop artists. Lineup for Dec 28; Blood Circus, Tad, Thrown Ups, Swallow & Nirvana. Lin up for Dec. 29; Girl Trouble, Cat Butt, Steve Fisk, Terry Lee Hale, Nights & Days w/SubPop poet Jessie Burnstein listed as "Steven J. Bernstein" MC both nights. Art by underground comic icon Charles Burns, known for illustrating SubPop fanzine, RAW and comic series Black Hole. A detail of Burns cover art for SubPop 200 is featured in background. Only trivial even age. NM of file copy quality. We are aware of less than 10 surviving examples. An important flyer from the early days of SubPop featuring Nirvana as the opening act of day 1 events. To this point Nirvana had only released the single "Love Buzz" earlier in 1988. The inclusion of song Spank Thru on the three LP SubPop 200 compilation marked only their third release. The performance at the end of 1988 marked only the 24th gig played under the name Nirvana. Concert ephemera for Nirvana in 1988 is extremely scarce and this is one of the most graphically appealing pieces.
