Item Description
7.75x8.25" Sphinx illustration board has mixed media original art for single panel cartoon (numbered 465 on back) by Little Lulu creator Marge Buell (1904-1993), who debuted the character in the Feb. 23, 1935 issue of The Saturday Evening Post. Offered here is the art for Sept. 16, 1944 comic strip (which would end Dec. 30, 1944), showing Little Lulu reconsidering throwing a rubber tire to an angry Tubby who flounders in the water, Lulu seeing junkyard sign promoting purchasing rubber. Artist has signed at lower right corner. Margins have some pencil notations and corners as well as center left/right margins have pin holes. Board is evenly aged but art remains clean and Exc. Desirable art featuring the two main characters from this iconic comic strip.
