Item Description
9" tall (11" tall w/separate hat on head) w/movable head and arms. Complete w/original die-cut string tag and two-piece fabric outfit that includes plush drum major hat and fancy cape decorated w/metal accent studs and felt pieces. Tag has some lt. aging a crease to ears. VF. Knickerbocker made composition dolls of both Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck during the 1930s, selling them w/o additional outfits, which were reserved for their "deluxe" versions; which included cowboy, Latin and bandleader outfits. All of these "Deluxe" versions are rare, but none more so that the example presented here, which is the only example we've offered in our 57 years. Doll exhibits exceptional condition, being stored under exceptional conditions over the decades. Aside from typical lt. crazing to face, tiny spot of wear to tip of nose and some small rubs to tops of shoes, doll is an exceptional example for an all-composition doll and remains totally bright and glossy. Cape has some scattered small spots of aging, but doll is VF/Exc. overall. Comes w/original heavily worn cardboard box, which is in pieces, but all flaps are present, including one bearing Knickerbocker logo w/faint Mickey Mouse name and stock number inkstamp. Despite its condition, the presence of this rare box in any shape validates the amazing original condition of the doll. The high grade condition, rarity and exceptional design all add up to this being one of the best Disney dolls we have ever offered.
