Item Description
Only example known to Hake's. This 1910 card, along with a second card from this same set being offered as the previous lot, represent only the eleventh and twelfth different individuals known from this exceedingly rare issue. Adkins was an integral part of the 1910 Eastern League's Baltimore Orioles baseball club, becoming one of the ironmen from that pitching staff which led the Orioles to a third place finish with a record of 83-70. Over eight seasons toiling for the Baltimore team, Adkins fashioned a very impressive won-loss record of 142-97, good for a .594 winning percentage. Included among those stellar seasons were win totals of 39 in 1908 along with 20 and 21 wins during the 1907 and 1909 campaigns respectively.  Adkins left the Baltimore club prior to the 1913 season so he does not appear in the fabled 1914 Baltimore News Orioles (International League) set. Card exhibits some margin wear but remains bright and clean with a very strong image. Great eye appeal. Just like the previous lot, this card is fresh to the market. Don't pass up this opportunity to own a true treasure from one of the rarest regional issues of the pre-war era.
