Item Description
22x35-3/8" oversized cardboard window card by "Globe Posters-Baltimore." Promoting a concert in Detroit, MI at Cobo Arena on "Thurs. Nov 25" in 1971 featuring James Brown, the Dramatics, Bobby Byrd, The Stylistics, Clay Tyson and Lynn Collins. Additional attractions included a "Hot Pants Contest" and a bicycle giveaway. 1971 was a banner year for "The Sex Machine" Brown who scored six top ten R&B hits including two #1 smashes both of which "Make It Funky" and "Hot Pants" are listed on this poster. The listing of Bobby Byrd is extra special as he was the founder of The Famous Flames the group Brown emerged to stardom from. Byrd is credited w/discovering Brown and was writer of many of Brown's hits. He was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Poster has age toning along right edge, top left and bottom right corner bumps, scattered staple holes and handling wear. Fine. Striking DayGlo colors, Thanksgiving Day and terrific text make this a standout.
