Item Description
1.75". No maker. A much more common version exists w/same design and text but that one does not have the date of "1950" like the one offered here. Spring pin holds ribbon and attached to this by original rubber band is a 4.5" celluloid baseball batter figure. Few tiny scattered age dots around rim but button remains totally bright and glossy. Tiny indent on left elbow of batter. All still remains Exc. Only example we've seen with the attachment and Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.

The 1950 Philadelphia Phillies, AKA the "Whiz Kids" won the National League pennant with a record of 91-63 under manager Eddie Sawyer. The offense was led by future National Baseball Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn, while the pitching staff was led by fellow Cooperstown selectee Robin Roberts. The Phillies would fall to the mighty New York Yankees in four straight games during the 1950 World Series.
