The 1954 Cleveland Indians won the American League pennant, finishing with one of the best won-loss records of all-time, 111-43 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager, Al Lopez. The offensive leader of the club was future Hall of Famer and past Negro League great Larry Doby. The pitching staff was led by a quartet of Hall of Fame starters, comprising one of the best staffs of all-time: Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, Early Wynn and Hal Newhouser. The favored Indians were swept 4-0 by the New York Giants in the World Series.
