Item Description
1.5". No maker but has union back stamp. Button has a pair of gleeful bears shaking hands with each holding a bat. At bottom center, the printed date of "1929" has been covered (on the cello) by a spot of reddish-brown paint that matches the button art color and done by the manufacturer so this button could be repurposed for this year, rather than make a new button with the current year printed on it. Attached by a ribbon is a large 1.75" dia. tin litho baseball marked "Made In Germany." Original owner added in ink the details of the World Series game he attended and obtained this button at "10-2-32 Yanks Vs. Cubs." This was the final game of the series as the Yankees swept the Cubs in four games. A record 13 future Hall of Famers played in this World Series, with three other future Hall of Famers also participating: umpire Bill Klem, Yankees manager Joe McCarthy, and Cubs manager Rogers Hornsby. Ball has lt. scattered wear, Fine. Trace of age to ribbon. Button is glossy and Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
