Item Description
2.75" oval. No maker. The 1929 Chicago Cubs ball club finished in first place in the National League with a record of 98-54 under National Baseball Hall of Fame Manager Joe McCarthy. Leading the offense was a quartet of future Baseball Hall of Famers: Rogers Hornsby (2B - middle row, third from right), Gabby Hartnett (C), Hack Wilson (OF - middle row, far right) and Kiki Cuyler (OF - middle row, second from right). Chicago would go on to lose the World Series to the American League champion, Philadelphia Athletics in five games. Original red/white ribbons are tattered and worn, just come along. Originally pinned to the ribbon is a 1.5" dia. stuffed fabric baseball w/"Cubs" name printed on two sides. This shows wear/aging, Fine. Entire metal back of button has surface rust. However, cello button itself is bright and glossy and remains Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
