Button is 5" dia. with a vacuform front and cardboard back w/safety pin. Front piece has relief image of Pirates head. Cardboard back is marked "The Original Champ-Pin" w/Pittsburgh address. Attached to the cardboard disc is a pair of 7" ribbons- one black, the other yellow w/black text "Pirates 1960 National League Champs." The plastic piece was attached at top by a staple but this is gone. It was also glued to the cardboard back but the plastic has shrunk over the years so this piece is now loose. Additional trace of wear as shrunk. Ribbons have some creases and a bit of fraying at bottom. Overall still Fine and a most unusual Pirates button. Paul Muchinsky Collection.

The 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates won the National League pennant with a final record of 95-59 under manager Danny Murtaugh. The offense and defense were both led by two future National Baseball Hall of Fame electees, Roberto Clemente and Bill Mazeroski. The Bucs would go on to win the 1960 World Series over the New York Yankees in seven thrilling games.
