Item Description
3x4". The 1931 W517 baseball set consists of 54 cards. Each player' photograph is centered within a thick border with the player either posed or in portrait style. The player's name, team and league appear on each, as does the card number. As was the case with many of the strip cards of the time, the W517 are blank-backed.

Robert Moses "Lefty" Grove was an American professional baseball pitcher. After having success in the minor leagues during the early 1920s, Grove became a star in Major League Baseball with the American League's Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox. Lefty Grove is considered one of the greatest pitchers in MLB history and has many career highlights including being a six time All-Star, a nine time AL ERA Leader, a two time World Series Champion in 1929 and 1930 and a two time Triple Crown winner in 1930 and 1931. Lefty Grove was inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1947.
