Item Description
5.75x10.25". Massachusetts state seal at top. Faint stain in upper left corner, as well as handling wear, most notably along the upper right edge. Fine. Butler, most famous for his 1884 third party run on the Greenback ticket, ran several times for Governor of Massachusetts. He lost this 1878 run on the Democratic ticket, losing to Republican Thomas Talbot. He would later win the governorship in 1882.
