Item Description
8.25x11" cover to the May 17, 1976 issue of Sports Illustrated featuring "Dr. J Slices 'Em Up" cover story showing Erving in New York Nets uniform. Dr. J has signed his image in black felt tip pen. Cover has mailing label at lower left and shows some scattered handling wear. VF overall. Great vintage piece to have signed by this basketball legend. Comes w/JSA COA.
Erving played for the New York Nets of the ABA (1973-1976) and was a three-time ABA MVP (1974-1976) and two-time ABA champion (1974, 1976). In the NBA he was and 11-time All-Star, 1981 MVP and 1983 NBA champion w/the Philadelphia 76ers. Dr. J was also a member of the NBA's 25th, 50th and 75th Anniversary teams. Member of the College Basketball HOF. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball HOF in 1993.
