Item Description
2-5/8" dia. Copper. Features highly detailed high relief portrait of Taylor on front w/text on reverse reading "Resolution Of Congress March 2nd 1847/Monterrey September 1846." Light scattered wear, most notably just left of Taylor's shoulder. Otherwise only minor handling. Extremely Fine. This variety has the second reverse ordered to replace the original "snake reverse" reused from a Scott medal. This new reverse from around April of 1848 utilized a wreath on an earlier 1845 Polk inaugural medal.
