Item Description
11-3/8x17-3/8" Strathmore artboard features pen and ink original art by Silver Age Aquaman artist Nick Cardy (1920-2013) for unused alternate cover to Aquaman #43. Art differs from what was actually published by DC Comics in Feb. 1969 (which has never been offered at auction) in that Aquaman is depicted here tangled in seaweed, about to be stepped on by slow-moving giant, instead of being strapped to bottom of giant's foot w/seaweed. While "Aquaman" title logo is pasted stat and DC logo and Comics Code Authority logos are printed, all else is original art. Pin hole at top center margin. Back has two spots of surface paper lifting at top from former tape mounting, but art is o/w clean and Exc. Wonderful Silver Age Aquaman art by one of the character's most popular artists.
