Item Description
13x16.5" artboard has mixed media original art for cover of Four Color #591 (Ernest Haycox's Western Marshal), published by Dell Oct. 1954. Ernest James Haycox (1899 - 1950) was an American writer of Western fiction. Art is by Hank Hartman (1913-2011), best known for his lush cover art for Dell's Lone Ranger comics and other Western properties, such as this Four Color cover. Art shows Ernest Haycox's Western Marshal reaching for his gun as escaped convict aims his pistol at him. Hartman has signed at lower right. Lt. aging/wear. Artboard has some corner tip wear and pin holes at lower left/right margins. Art displays Exc. Includes low grade comic that just comes along.
