Item Description
11x17" thin cardboard tour blank poster designed so that the "Place" "Date" and "Admission" for the concert could be hand printed. At center is a photo of 'The Drifting Cowboys' w/Williams and his wife Audrey at center. Additional text "Writer And Singer Of The Nationally Famous Hit Song- 'Move It On Over'" at top and "Stars Of M.G.M. Records" at bottom. Tiny vertical tear at top left. Otherwise only minor handling and moderate age toning at edges. VF. One of only three poster designs known that picture Williams. This was likely printed by Leon Johnson Printers. Johnson worked w/Williams during the early stages of his career printing song books that Williams sold and continued producing much of the concert promotional material for the group in the late 1940s. "Move It On Over" was Williams first major hit reaching #4 on the Billboard Country chart in 1947. Concert pieces for Williams are rare and this item dates from his time in Montgomery, AL before moving to Shreveport, LA to participate in the Louisiana Hayride in the summer of 1948. Williams' life and music continue to fascinate scholars and music lovers the world over. A special chance to obtain an outstanding artifact related to an icon of not only the Country & Western genre but of the totality of American music.
