Item Description
1.25" shows enraged apple peddler beating his fallen horse with the Angel of Mercy floating above holding sword in one hand while raising her other hand to stop the brutality. We've seen six examples with two different imprints. This reads "S.F.S.P.C.A./Band Of Mercy." A back paper with membership information is gone. This is one of  the earliest buttons issued dealing with the animal welfare cause and has superb graphics. Light age tone around reverse collet but just a narrow line of edge stain on the front from 9-12 o'clock. Some tiny surface wear only seen in reflected light. Full gloss. Superb color. Fine.
