Item Description
17-3/8x22-5/8" on thin uncoated stock. Listed in Grushkin Art of Rock as plate AOR-4.132. Designed by Ken Walker w/artwork by John H. Lown both credited at bottom. Promoting two days of "Trans Continental Pop Festival" concerts on June 27 & 28 at CNE Grandstand in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The shows became known as Festival Express as the groups traveled between the three locations- Toronto, Calgary and Winnipeg via the Canadian National Railway which led to some terrific drunken jam sessions captured by a film crew later released as a documentary in 2003. Lineup included Joplin w/her Kozmic Blues Band, The Dead touring in support of Workingman's Dead and The Band coming off their two seminal albums Music From Big Pink and their second self-titled release. Joplin would tragically pass away only a couple months after these shows. A 1.5" vertical tear at bottom center repaired w/archival tape on verso. Otherwise very minor crumpling of edges and corner crease amounting to moderate handling wear. VG. An impressive artifact of the counterculture heyday.
