Item Description
14-5/8x20" Bainbridge Board features oil painting original art used for the cover to Moon Knight: Fist Of Khonshu #6, published by Marvel Dec. 1985. Art is by Bill Sienkiewicz, noted for his use of highly stylized imagery in comics during the 1980s, marking a significant stylistic change from most mainstream comics. His use of paints, photorealism and collage elements revolutionized the comics landscape. Some of Sienkiewicz's best known works include Marvel's New Mutants, Elektra: Assassin and of course, Moon Knight.

Image area has been tape-matted to 9.75x15" and shows a shadowy Moon Knight standing along a stone wall with winter woods in the background, snow swirling about him. Of note, this six issue mini-series (Moon Knight's second solo series) featured more typical comic book cover art for the first five issues, this final issue opting for Sienkiewicz's more moody, atmospheric rendition, depicting Moon Knight's cape and cowl w/just his burning red eyes and moon symbol visible from their shadowy recesses. Sienkiewicz has signed just below center left, adding "1983" date below his initials.

Board has wide masking tape margin borders with thinner white tape inner border. Masking tape has aged and board has staple holes at each corner. Lower right has .75" C-shaped puncture to board, not affecting art, which remains clean and Exc. Would make for an excellent matted and framed display. One of the most well-known Moon Knight covers of the 1980s, this piece presents an extraordinary opportunity for Moon Knight fans and comic art collectors alike. Gary and Dawn Guzzo Collection.
