Item Description
18x24" foam core mounted artboard pair has pen and ink original art for the last page splash of Zot! #13, published by Eclipse Comics May 1987. Page #16-17 double page spread. Art is by Zot! creator Scott McCloud and features dramatic introduction of the character Zybox. Storyline "Terror Is Loose - - Zybox!" by Scott McCloud. Zot! was intended as a lighter alternative to the rise of darker, grittier comics of the 1980s, with McCloud serving up readers science fiction superhero stories. Of the 36 issues, the first 10 were published in color. Despite critical acclaim, the title was initially canceled after 10 issues due to low sales. At this point, the decision was made to relaunch the title in black and white, allowing the comic to run profitably from Jan. 1987 until July 1991. Small margins have some scattered ink notes and scribble at left. Lt. aging/wear, but art remains clean and Exc. Gary and Dawn Guzzo Collection.
