Item Description
Huge and impressive 40.5x60.5" poster for 1950s spook show that traveled under the name Dr. Satan's Shrieks In The Night. Poster was printed by Globe Poster of Baltimore, MD and is jam-packed w/great horror imagery promising "Every Thrill In The Book" as well as two very popular 1950s pop culture personas - Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe! Top half has spook show name and promotional text while bottom is split into two, left side features various women being menaced by werewolf, zombie, skeleton and gorilla w/images of bound women promoted as "Death On The Slab!" and "Slave Maidens At The Mercy Of Hideous Beasts!" Right side features eerie portrait of Elvis, promoted as "The Ethereal Form Of Elvis Presley" w/famous Golden Dreams pin-up image of nude (though discreetly portrayed) Marilyn Monroe as seen in the first issue of Playboy, which is promoted as the "Posing Apparition Of Marilyn Monroe (Re-Enacting Famous Pin-Up Pose)." Text below this promises "Spirit Portrait" of Elvis for the girls in attendance and Marilyn "Spirit Portrait" for the boys. Small "1957" inked date at lower right. Poster is comprised of two pieces, joined along horizontal center and has been folded, w/fold lines most noticeable at vertical center and in green portions of upper half of poster. Entire poster has been backed w/brown paper and margins have been wrapped. Small numbered label on back from David Price's Egyptian Hall Museum in Nashville, TN. VG/Fine overall but still an impressive display piece.
