Item Description
Offered here is one of the few known examples depicting Jackie Robinson in his 1946 Montreal Royals jersey along with one of his Royals teammates and Hall of Fame manager, Leo Durocher, standing at center. 8x10" glossy w/sharp and distinct images. Only a trace of handling wear, photo is crisp and clean. Jackie Robinson was a cultural icon, becoming the first African American baseball player of the 20th century to join the Major Leagues, making his debut on April 15, 1947. Although he had a playing career spanning 17 seasons, Leo Durocher is best remembered as a top flight manager, leading his Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants teams to three National League pennants and one World Series title in 1954 with the Giants. An exceptional pre-rookie image of Jackie Robinson along w/Durocher, inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1962 and 1994 respectively. Richard Merkin Collection.
