Item Description
12x16" folder contains twelve 12x16" art plates, one of which is a title plate surrounded by art. Printed by Collectors' Press in 1977, this is only art portfolio Wally Wood (1927-1981) ever did in his career. Plate 1 has been signed in black felt tip pen and hand-numbered 214/2000. Each plate is a lithograph on archival acid-free Strathmore paper. Portfolio is in a red buckram, gold-embossed folder which features art from Plate 11 and title box in similar style to EC Comics on which Wood worked. Most of illustrations are sexually explicit in nature featuring couples engaged in sexual activity. Titles include - "Free Ball, Venus Fly Trap, Eternal Triangle, Tyrant" (which features chained nude woman being sexually assaulted by Ming the Merciless as Flash Gordon watches from barred cell), "Messiah, Perils Of The Princess" (features Star Wars-themed image w/Darth Vader advancing upon a restrained nude Princess Leia), "Fantasy Flight" (features Buck Rogers theme), "Anatomy Lesson, Frontier, Strip Poker" and "Horizon." Lt. aging/wear. Portfolio has a few spine pinch creases and some edge and corner tip wear but is VF overall. First three plates have top margin edge wear. VF. Remainder of prints are Exc. Gary and Dawn Guzzo Collection.
