Item Description
10.5x15-7/8" artboard features pen and ink original art by George Tuska (1916-2009), best-known for his long career, lasting from the 1940s into the 1980s. Tuska's Silver Age work included illustrating Iron Man and other Marvel characters, going on to draw the DC Comics newspaper comic strip The World's Greatest Superheroes from 1978-1982. Art was inked by Pablo Marcos, who has signed by image of Captain America clone and Red Skull in first panel, adding "1977" date. Art is for page 23 and features five panels (first panel featuring three different scenes), showing the origin of German Captain America and Bucky clones as well as a retelling of the Silver Age origin of the real Captain America. First two panels feature four images of the Captain America clone (both costumed and as "Steve Rogers") w/single image of Bucky clone. The real Captain America appears as shadowy outline trapped in ice in third panel. Of note, both Red Skull and Namor the Sub-Mariner appear in single panel each. Pasted text/dialogue stats have evenly aged. Back has Marvel copyright inkstamp. Artboard has thin strip of tape staining at top/bottom center margins and clipped corners at top, neither affecting art, which remains clean and Exc. Tuska has signed at top margin, beside stamped title name and handwritten issue/page numbers.
