Item Description
This is the first release of Snake Mountain, w/box art featuring eerie text reading "I Am The Spirit Of Snake Mountainnnnn" which was quickly change for the playset's second release (see previous lot). Additionally, the starburst at lower left also features different wording, noting that your voice would be changed into "A Scary 'Voice Of Evil'!" instead of "The Scary 'Voice Of Snake Mountain'!" This change was made in part to placate parent groups of the early 1980s, already critical of "dark forces" being presented in other fantasy properties like Dungeons & Dragons.

Box contains Skeletor's headquarters, "One Snake Mountain Stronghold With Wolf's Head Microphone" as well as "'Striking Snake', Trap Door, Evil Tunnel, Scaling Ladder, Bridge, Prisoner Shackles, Demon's Moving Jaw" and top of playset serves as handle to carry when folding playset has been shut. ©1983 Mattel, Inc. AFA case has moderate scuffing/surface scratches to bottom of case, sold as is. First releases of Snake Mountain are very rare and highly sought by Masters Of The Universe collectors.
