Item Description
6x10.5x1.25" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid label contains pressed wood toy w/illustrated labels on both sides, made in Japan by Line Mar, 1950s. Box lid has two 1.25" tears to left side panel and shows some corner tip wear. Fine overall but still displays well w/strong color on clean lid label. Toy features unusual design as it was to be pulled flat along floor via attached celluloid cord and wooden knob "handle". Toy's features include revolving eye, rotating wooden "Spinach" can and revolving cookie-like wooden disc in Popeye's hand and revolving wooden ball in stomach. Figure is jointed at waist w/wooden wheels as tips of feet. Celluloid pull string has creases/bends and toy has some rippling to illustrated labels as applied, but o/w shows little wear. Exc. Very rare and the first we've offered of this unusual Line Mar toy in our 58 years.
