Item Description
1.75" button w/graphic of ox head and additional text "Kutztown, PA Nov. 27th 1912." Attached to pin on reverse is a 9.5" long ribbon w/candidates' names. An article from the Sat. Nov 30, 1912 edition of the Reading Times reports from "Kutztown" that "Wednesday Night The Democrats Held Their Salt River Parade And Ox Roast." The post-election event drew 2,500 people who feasted on an 800 pound ox and the paper noted that "It Was One Of The Greatest Demonstrations This Town Had Since The Election Of Grover Cleveland In 1884." Some fading on gold lettering on ribbon, w/some faint scattered spotting on cello. Overall Fine. Wayne Otchis Collection.
