Item Description
Medal is 1-3/8" tall plus moveable ring. Medal is sterling with four hallmarks on reverse below text reading "192nd Machine Gun Company Football Competition France 1917." Front shows three players, soccer ball and in distance a tiny figure before the goal. The 192nd used Vickers machine guns and was attached to the 6th Infantry Division. Their 1917 engagements included Battle of Hill 70 and the Cambrai operations in France on the Western Front known as the Hindenberg Line. Bottom front has tiny British Registration number. Tiniest edge wear on reverse. Exc. Rare.
