Item Description
Sizes are 7/8", 1-3/8" and four at 1.25". First two picture and name Field Marshall Horatio "Kitchner". He became famous during the Boer War and was British Secretary of State for War from 1914 until he was killed in action June 5, 1916. Larger has blank back paper, British made. Smaller has very rarely seen back paper "Made By Baldwin & Gleason Co. New York, USA". Third shows Kitchener on right while on left is Admiral John Jellicoe who commanded the Grand Fleet at the Battle of Jutland, May,1916. British made. The last three are Australian issues two dated 1918 and other from same era. First shows Egyptian Sphinx with "State War Council/Help Those Who Are Helping You 1918". Second shows Aussie soldier and two supply laden camels before the Pyramids of Giza. Tiny red star above with initials of Australian Comforts Fund. Last ramrod straight standing kangaroo with "The Fighting Kangaroo/'Let 'em All Come'". All six are Exc. and all are only examples we've seen. Rare.
