Item Description
Presented here is a 1937 image depicting one of the all-time great pairs of teammates in Dominican Republic baseball history, National Baseball Hall of Fame legend, Martin Dihigo and fellow star Santos Amaro, both in full Santiago team uniforms. This legendary ball club played against the famous 1937 Ciudad Trujillo team that included Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige and Cool Papa Bell. Dihigo is widely recognized to be the Latin baseball equivalent of Babe Ruth, a two-way talent that not only excelled with the bat and glove but was also a legendary, league leading pitcher in numerous categories over his illustrious Negro League/Latin baseball career. This is a cropped image from the 1937 team photo (an example of which Hake's offered in 2013). Glossy photo is 5x7" w/various publication notations on reverse. Lt. handling wear and aging, few margin pin holes. Image a bit fuzzy but still distinct.
