Subjects include Chief of Police, architects, tailors, Pierce-Arrow cars factory owner, judges, teachers as well as persons depicted as historical or fictional characters including Gulliver, MacBeth, Atlas, Hamlet, Vulcan, Midas, Hercules, Ben Franklin and Richard III. The chairman of the Essex County Republican Committee is depicted with an elephant. Most illustrations are bw, with a few in blue and orange tones and one in full color. "Author's Autographed Edition" bookplate is affixed to inside front cover and is signed by Fleming in black ink and hand-numbered 139. Intricately detailed account of town life in the early part of the 20th century. Covers have wear to corners and spine, Fine.
