Item Description
Brian Campbell worked his satirical political commentary first as art which was then used to make prints and from prints, buttons were made. 8.5x8.5” original art has note from Campbell on cover sheet that reads "This Is On Light Weight Paper - Don't Know Why." He has backed art sheet with stiffer paper sheet held by 2 narrow tape strips on very top edge. Campbell states in his booklet "After Doing The Cheney Seal Pin I Felt I Should Do A Companion Presidential Seal Pin. It Had To Be A Cartoon Character That People Knew And It Had To Be The Right Fit. Well, Bumbling, Not-So-Bright-But-Likeable George Of The Jungle Fit The Bill.” Art features surrounding text “Seal Of The President Of The United States” with inner blue rim with white stars showing Bush as George Of The Jungle, smashed into tree with stars about his head. Osama bin Laden peeks out from jungle vegetation in background. Acrylic art is Exc./N. Mint. Sales of Campbell’s paintings in the past have ranged from $500 to $1,200 each, but in recent years availability has been largely limited to private collections. This one of a kind artwork is being offered at a very reasonable price. Hake’s is also offering the“Campbell Pins April 2003 – May 2006” booklet. Click on the title for more information.
