Item Description
2-3/8x4" stiff card with tiny text on bottom edge "Patent'd Oct. 13, 1863, S. Wing, 290 Washington St., Boston." 13/16" tall opening displays bright crystal clear tintype with Mint surface all enclosed by a star border on the surrounding mount. Tiny darkening of extreme upper right corner tip. Reverse is blank except for large, thin white paper sheet mounted as made to enclose the tintype. Likely produced for the 1864 campaign and a piece which is quite stunning in its graphic simplicity. Overall N. Mint. See Lincoln button #557.
