Item Description
3.25" wide by 3" deep by 6.5" tall die-cut tin litho toy with spring plunger mechanism on the reverse. Depicts Mickey holding a pair of drumsticks and his arms are jointed at the elbow area so they are movable. Attached to his front is a separate drum with his name across the front "Mickey Mouse". Drum on this example is white with blue design and lettering while the example shown in the Hake Guide To Disney Collectibles is orange with black lettering. The tin drum head with text "Nifty Jazz Drummer" is missing, but this is a part that has been re-created and is available for around $125. Also missing is a black 'tail' from the reverse but this is simply a metal strip that allows the figure to be propped up and this also is easily available as a replacement for around $50. The toy mechanism still works correctly but needs the drum head in place in order to produce the correct sound and the proper movement of his arms and hands. Paint is somewhat darkened all over but hardly any actual paint loss or wear marks. Toy has a very conservative opening bid for a Mickey classic which lists in Hake's Disney Collectibles Guide Second Edition at $800 - Good; $1,800 - Fine; $3,000 - N. Mint.
