Item Description
Rolled 14x22" poster, one of three in this auction, once owned by a 1960s SNCC member at the University of Alabama. Photo has photographer's name in small lettering and larger type for the Georgia headquarters Students Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. Poster shows zone number rather than Zip Code so is likely c. 1962. SNCC began in 1960 with $800 grant from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The group organized citizens at segregated lunch counters, freedom rides and was active in 1963 march on Washington, Mississippi Freedom Summer and Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. This poster titled "Now" has a few light horizontal creases and very trivial edge wear. No tears and totally clean. First we've offered.
