Item Description
This cover is notorious for its use of a large photo of Hitler on the cover. It doesn't stop there either. There is an origin of Hitler feature inside. The cover is also known for two other reasons. First, the number of heroes working together on the cover implies that it is a team book. However, the only team up inside is Daredevil and the Pirate Prince. They get together to battle Hitler. Secondly, the cover features a good picture of The Claw. The cover is credited to "Woodro", the pen name usually used by Bob Wood. He was a regular artist for Lev Gleason Publications, the publisher of this title. The title itself lasted until 1956 when it was canceled with issue #132. This issue contains some other great features: the Silver Streak, Lance Hale, Cloud Curtis, and Dickey and Dean. The official title of the book was Daredevil Comics, but issue number one, this one, is known as "Daredevil Battles Hitler." Daredevil gets two stories where in the second, he battles The Claw. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified NM 9.4. This copy is tied with one other as the second highest graded copy CGC has seen.
