Item Description
The second series of Dell's Four Color comic books started in 1942. The title Four Color was home to a lot of different features over the years. It is the only title that simultaneously carried Disney, Warner Brothers, King Features and others under one umbrella. This issue may be the most important Four Color ever published. It contains Carl Barks' first work on Donald Duck. Few artists are as connected to their work as Barks was. He stayed with the Ducks as long as he could. Even at 95 years of age, he was still participating in projects. The story in this issue comes from an unreleased animation feature that Disney Studios had developed. The story was based on work done by Bob Karp, who also wrote the comic. Barks and Jack Hannah took what had been created, and did the art together. Some experts are able to tell who did which panel, but the story is still seamless. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified VF+ 8.5.
