Item Description
The success of this book is one of the main reasons that Harvey would eventually emerge as such a giant in the comic industry. It features an action-packed cover by Alex Schomburg, who does not scrimp on the number of Nazis that the Hornet and Kato are facing. This is one fevered battle. This issue brings the hero right into the center of World War II. The Green Hornet first aired on radio in 1936. He was created by George W. Trendle, who is also associated with the creation of the Lone Ranger. The character was popular with the American public from the start and it didn’t take long for him to move into comics. The first issue appeared in 1940 under the publishing umbrella of Holyoke. With issue #7 Harvey Comics began publishing the character. It lasted 47 issues before being canceled in 1949. The book also features The Twinkle Twins, Zebra and the Spirit of ’76. The pages are off-white to white. The book has is CGC-certified VF/NM 9.0. This issue of Green Hornet Comics is the highest graded copy listed in the CGC census.
