Item Description
Harvey Publishing began publishing this title in 1949, almost 15 years after Babe Ruth played his last game. The fact that Harvey titled the book after him is a testament to how powerful his name still was. This may be the best sports-themed comic ever published. It covered all sports from tennis to diving to football. This particular issue is noted for the cover featuring Bob Feller. It also includes a complete story about his life and career. Additional stories in this issue include football’s Sid Luckman, tennis’ Pancho Gonzales, and diving’s Vicki Draves. The book features art by Bud Powell. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified NM- 9.2. According to the CGC census, this copy is the highest graded copy they have seen. Naturally, the back cover contains a Charles Atlas ad.
