Item Description
This is the very first comic put out by the publisher that would eventually evolve into Archie Comics. MLJ Magazines published this book in November of 1939 and it contains the first appearance of Dan Hastings, Richy the Amazing Boy, and Rang-A-Tang the wonder dog. In addition, it also features a Little Nemo story (not done by W. McCay), and a Foxy Grandpa tale. The cover art is fantastic. While the artist is unfortunately not known, his work still stands out as a great example of the best of the Golden Age. Every aspect of the cover is perfect, from the color to the realistic image. The book also features interior art by Jack Cole. The pages are light tan to off-white. The book is CGC-certified FN+ 6.5. According to the CGC census, this is the third highest graded copy they have seen, the fifth highest overall. The title lasted 22 issues until it finally saw cancellation in 1942. This issue is a wonderful and important part of comics publishing history.
