Item Description
This wonderful book was published by Gold Key. It headlines Little Lulu’s friend, Tubby. He appeared in several editions of Dell’s Four Color during the early fifties and he then was given his own title, lasting 49 issues. This issue followed as a one shot. It is very fondly remembered by collectors for its science fiction theme. SF was not a place that Little Lulu or Tubby had really gone before. Tubby first appeared in Little Lulu, created by Marjorie Henderson Buell in 1935 to replace Henry in the Saturday Evening Post. Her popularity has never diminished. Most recently, she appeared on HBO in a series of cartoons featuring the voice of Tracey Ullman. While Marge (Ms. Buell) did the panel cartoons for the Post, the comics featured the work of John Stanley. Since Ms. Buell retained ownership of the character for many years, her pen name still appears inside the strip and on all titles. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified NM+ 9.4. This is the highest graded copy listed on the CGC census.
