Item Description
From his first appearance in 1939, the Caped Crusader quickly became one of DC Comics biggest draws. He was one of only five DC heroes that had their own title. The mythology and supporting characters that Bob Kane, Bill Finger and others were able to build up around him is possibly the greatest in the history of comics. One of Batman’s most original foes is the Penguin. This is his second cover appearance and there is also a story about him on the inside. The cover works wonderfully because of the balance between the large primary color, yellow, and the actions of the Penguin in the dark. The reader joins Batman as he peels back the brightness to revel the dark underside of crime. Robin stands next to him with a fist and a karate chop ready to take on all comers. The cover was created by the great Jerry Robinson. Robinson also contributed interior art, as does Ray Burnley. Also included is a story written by Don Cameron. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified VF- 7.5. What kind of gas is Oswald Cobblepot releasing on our heroes?
